Contains carbon dust drawings, pen and ink drawings, engravings, pencil sketches, plates, watercolors, acrylic paintings, collage, reference photographs, negatives, photographic reproductions, halftones, and posters of anatomical and medical illustrations created by Blake. Carbon dust drawings are mounted on stipple boards unless otherwise noted; many are overlaid with their original protective tissue papers that carry inscribed notes, arrows, labels, and annotations. Posters were originally assembled using masking tape; a few have been disassembled for preservation purposes because the tape is no longer sticky, with captions transcribed onto item labels. Items are arranged alphabetically by depicted body part and include handwritten inscriptions, if present. A selection of photographic reproductions of anatomical and medical drawings can be found in Series 2, Biographical Materials. Materials date from 1948 to 1980; some are undated.
