The Department of Ophthalmology, established in 1965, began in 1930 as a division within the Department of Surgery. Divisions of the department include Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Cornea Service, Glaucoma, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Oculoplastics, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Research Division, and Vitreoretinal Service.
