Robert G. Winfree was born on November 29, 1943. He became an administrator at Duke University Medical Center. In the 1970s he served as the Assistant Administrative Director for the hospital, and in the 1980s and 1990s he served as the Associate Vice President for the Management of Health Affairs. Winfree's work involved close contact with top-level medical center administrators, including Ralph Snyderman, William Anlyan, Bernard McGinty, and Jane Elchlepp.
Winfree was also heavily involved in the Group on Business Affairs (GBA) for the Association of American Medical Colleges. He was co-chair of the GBA Space Management Task Force in 1989, and in 1992 he served as the National Chairperson for the GBA Steering Committee. He was made an Emeritus member of the GBA in 2000.
Winfree died in Durham, North Carolina on July 17, 2011. - Acquisition information:
