The Division of Allied Health Education of the Duke University School of Medicine was formed to represent the interests of health-related educational programs, including the Pathology Assistant, Physician's Associate, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Nurse Anesthesiology, and Radiologic Technology programs. Deans of Medical and Allied Health Education included Thomas D. Kinney and Ewald W. Busse. Scope and content:

Materials relate to the administration of the Division of Allied Health Education. Types of materials include reports, correspondence, bulletins, budgets, meeting minutes, grant materials, reports, programs, agendas, pamphlets, newsletters, curriculum vitae, photographs, and evaluations. Subjects include allied health accreditation, the radiologic technical program, physician's associate program, nurse anesthetist program, and the respiratory therapy program. Materials range in date from 1966 to 1983.

Biographical / historical:

The Division of Allied Health Education of the Duke University School of Medicine was formed to represent the interests of health-related educational programs. The division acted as a liaison with the entire medical complex, coordinating all student and faculty within the Allied Health Education Building, and providing for such varied educational services as the planning and evaluation of courses and circulation of instructional materials.
The division offered Bachelor of Health Science degree programs, graduate degree programs, and certificate programs. Bachelor of Health Science degree programs included Anesthesia, Medical Technology, Pathology Assistant, and Physician's Associate. Graduate degree programs included Health Administration and Physical Therapy. Certificate programs included Clinical Psychology Internship, Cytotechnology, Health Administrator's Management Improvement Program, Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy Residency, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Nurse Anesthesiology, Pastoral Care and Counseling, Physician's Associate, Radiologic Technology, and Speech Pathology-Audiology Residency. Deans of Medical and Allied Health Education included Thomas D. Kinney and Ewald W. Busse. All of the allied health programs have either been discontinued or absorbed by other departments, including the Department of Community and Family Medicine.
