Edward Lanphier Collection, 1876-1999

Edward Lanphier (1922-1999) was a physician and senior scientist in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Wisconsin--Madison. Lanphier wrote and spoke extensively on a variety of diving subjects, including decompression in surface-based diving, comfort in underwater exercise, animal and human respiration under increased pressures, and hyperbaric treatments. During his career, Lanphier was a member of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society. The collection contains his professional papers.         Contains files originally carried in 3.5 floppy disks. The files pertain to Wagner's time at Duke, where he oversaw a computer database of patient records. The Untitled Floppy Disk contains a folder entitled "Duke," which consists of SBQ, SBD, SBF, SBV, and SBP file types. These file types were used for a relational database system and are associated with Superbase Developers. The applications required to open most of these files are Superbase Classic, Superbase Scientific, SBF Parser, and Superbase SB Next Generation Workbench. These files appear to be part of a database with Duke patient information. Most of the files contain information on patients with spinal injuries and include family and medical history and updates on medical conditions. Materials date August to October 1994. Also contains the Model 70 Reference Diskette Floppy Disk, which contains files for the IBM PS/2 Model 70 reference disk. It consists of ADF, G0-G6, OV, PG, TX, PAL, CFG, MS-DOS Application, system, font file types. These materials date from July 20, 1988 and March 9, 1990. Files date from 1998 to 1994.

Selected photographs were used by Haynes as editor of Stead's memoirs (1995). Photograph negatives were labeled by the donor to correspond with prints.
