This series documents the organization, operational functions, educational outreach, and patient services of the Duke Midwifery Service. Contains annual reports, awards, correspondence, grant applications, histories, meetings, organizational records, resident orientation materials, staff schedules, resources, and guidelines. Also included are the Midwifery birth logs for Certified Nurse Midwife assisted labor and deliveries at Duke University Medical Center and the Durham County Regional Hospital. The birth logs were used prior to the adoption of Obstetrics Trace View (OBTV) and Epic electronic record management systems. Some of these materials contain confidential patient information and are restricted under law by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). This series documents the Centering Pregnancy and Centering Parenting programs coordinated by the Duke Midwifery Service. Contains curriculum, reports, clinic resources, and grants funded by the March of Dimes. Centering programming in Durham, North Carolina, first began at the Lincoln Community Health Center in 2004 before relocating to El Centro Hispano in 2009. Materials date from 1997 to 2016.

This series documents Amy MacDonald's professional career as Director of the Duke Midwifery Service. Contains received professional correspondence, emails, notes from meetings with staff, lectures, service awards, compliment cards, personal ephemera, and artifacts. Materials date from 1997 to 2019.

Contains photographs of Centering Pregnancy and Centering Parenting groups, printed birth announcements on photo paper, staff retreats, and members of Duke Midwifery Service with mothers and their newborns. The Centering program's participant photo releases are on file with the Durham Health Department. Materials date from 2003 to 2014.
