Contains materials related to Arena's 1974 trip to China as part of the American Medical Association Delegation. It includes Arena's itinerary and other planning materials, his observations and travel diary, correspondence, and articles and manuscript materials written on the health of China's Children and other medical topics related to his visit. The correspondence involves both personal correspondence between Arena and Dr. Ma Haitem as well as professional correspondence concerning Arena's trip, the resulting speaking engagements and publications, and health-related research requests covering such topics as acupuncture, child abuse, and hypnotics. This series also contains a number of photographs, slides, and memorabilia collected during Arena's time in Hong Kong and the People's Republic of China. The photographs and slides capture hospital work in China, scenic locations, and group photos. The memorabilia consist of postcards, maps, restaurant menus, and city guides and brochures. The materials date from circa 1969 to 1987, with the bulk falling between 1974 and 1975.
