Topics discussed in the professional correspondence include department appointments, professional organizations, consultations, research, letters to journal editors, and recommendations. Major correspondents include Eugene Stead, Jesse Helms, C.E. Persons, and P. Walter Davis. Large amounts of correspondence is also located in the following series: United State Armed Forces and American College of Physicians. The materials are arranged both alphabetically and chronologically and date from 1946 to 1970.
