Walk Down Memory Lane: First Memory
Dr. Robert (Bob) Drucker, Advisory Dean and Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics, sits in his office with his back turned to the camera, spins around on his chair, and says hi and asks if the students remember him as he removes his face shield and mask. During this message to DUSOM students, he acknowledges the challenges of starting medical school during COVID and how happy he is to meet with students in person again. He sends his congratulations to all graduating students.
Walk Down Memory Lane: Second Memory
Dr. Julian Hertz, Course Director for INTERDIS 109B: Clinical Skills Training Immersion and Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine, sitting at a table working, looks up, and greets the DUSOM students. He asks if they remember him and reminds them they met four years ago in the Immersion course, of which they were the first class to go through this course, and, during this time, they had to do most of the course via Zoom because of COVID. He also mentions they were the first class go through the POCUS curriculum, and he ends by saying how proud he is of this class for reaching graduation after experiencing the start of medical school at the beginning of COVID.
Walk Down Memory Lane: Third Memory
Dr. John Matthew (Matt) Velkey, Co-Course Director for INTERDIS 113B: Foundations of Patient Care 2 and Assistant Professor of the Practice of Medical Education in Cell Biology, stands at the podium, and motions to the empty Learning Hall, saying it looks how it looked when they started in 2020: empty. During the video, he reflects on the 2020 POCUS curriculum and immersion course had to become virtual quickly because of COVID. He recalls their ability to have some in person training, which was challenging because of the pandemic, but the challenges they faced enhanced the curriculum by creating more opportunities for virtual learning and helping to build the Foundations of Patient Care (FPC) curriculum. After giving his congratulations, the camera pans to Dr. Leonard (Len) White waving from a seat.
Walk Down Memory Lane: Fourth Memory
Dr. Sarah Dotters-Katz (Dr. SDK), Clerkship Director for Obstetrics and Gynecology and Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, sits by an exam table and proceeds to "catch a baby" from a medical manikin and reminds students she met them for the first time during their clerkship orientation when they practiced catching babies. She talks about clerkships and congratulations the graduating students.
Walk Down Memory Lane: Fifth Memory
Dr. Daniel (Danny) Laskowitz, Director of the Third Year Program and Professor of Neurology, congratulations the graduating students and gives updates on the program and changes made based on their feedback: increased communications by offering the opportunity for those going into Third Year to be able to speak all the different study program directors; revamped Canvas, statistics, and other programs and courses to make them more streamlined; instituted a medical student liaison; created a medical educator program; added more dual degrees; and instituted qualitative thesis.
Walk Down Memory Lane: Sixth Memory
Dr. Saumil Chudgar, Assistant Dean for Clinical Education and Professor of Medicine, sits at a table in the Trent Semans Center, and remembers working with the graduating students in the Clinical Skills Program (CSI). He tells the students he is really proud of them and wishes them all the best.
Walk Down Memory Lane: Seventh Memory
Dr. Joseph (Joe) Jackson, Associate Dean and Director of the Office of Student Affairs, greets the students and discusses the career building programming offered by the Office of Student Affairs. Jackson ends by saying he and the advisory dean team are here to celebrate the students and they look forward to fully celebrating the graduates.

Dr. Aditee Narayan, Associate Dean for Curricular Affairs and Professor of Pediatrics, walks through the Office of Curricular Affairs, telling the soon to be graduates how proud she is of them. The camera pans to the staff of Office of Curricular Affairs waving and congratulating the students in the Class of 2024.
