Duke Chapter of White Coats for Black Lives Records, 2020-2021

White Coats for Black Lives (WC4BL) is a national organization born out of the National White Coat Die-In demonstrations that took place on December 10, 2014. The group's mission is to dismantle racism in medicine and promote the health, well-being, and self-determination of people of color. The Duke Chapter of WC4BL was founded in the fall of 2020 and is active on Duke's campus.This collection contains materials from the Duke Chapter of WC4BL documenting their founding, meetings, executive board, programming, and the Racial Justice Report Card. The RJRC consists of 14 metrics that evaluate an academic center's curriculum and climate, student and faculty diversity, policing, racial integration of clinical care sites, treatment of workers, and research protocols. Ultimately, the RJRC seeks to encourage academic medical centers to take seriously their responsibility to fight racism in medicine, and while the RJRC is not exhaustive, it's intent is to be used as a tool to begin to evaluate and enact anti-racist medical education and care.       Dr. Rodger Alan Liddle, MD, is a gastroenterologist with a research focus on GI hormones. He first came to Duke in 1988 as chief of the GI section at the Durham VA Medical Center. During his time at Duke and the VA, Liddle maintained a focus on conducting and guiding laboratory research, while also serving as an administrator, instructor, and clinician.
