Types of materials include articles; photographs; memorials and tributes; and professional materials pertaining to his career in medicine such as his North Carolina Medical License, diploma from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and the letter awarding Dixon with the Memorial Prize in 1965 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. The collection also includes a silver bowl awarded to Dixon for teaching excellence at Duke, as well as a painting of the Schwab mansion in Braddock, Pennsylvania. Dixon bought the mansion and spent 25 years restoring the home. Materials date from 1906-2013.

                Duke Hospital South Planning Collection, 1979-1982

                James Buchanan Duke established the Duke Endowment in 1924. The endowment provided funds to form Duke's School of Medicine and Duke Hospital. Duke North opened in 1980 and was connected the older hospital, referred to as the South division, through a personnel rapid transit system (PRT).                   Posters, 2006-2018

                  Contains posters presented by Stacey Bennett a various conferences. The "Use of High Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation (HFOV) in Neurocritical Care Patients" poster was presented at the Neurocritical Care Society's (NCS) Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, and the Respiratory Care Congress in Austin, Texas. This poster was the first poster presented at either conference where the project was led by a nurse practitioner, as well as the first project lead by a female in the NCS group. The project the poster documents changed what medical practitioners knew about ventilating patients with traumatic brain injury by demonstrating that lives could be saved if high frequency ventilation was used and that it was safe to do so. This led to a change in international medical practice by changing what was once an absolute contraindication to a relative contraindication. As a result, patients began to receive newer alternative modes of ventilation through high frequency ventilation techniques. Additionally, more research was conducted by the US military and others because of this project. The "Smashing the National Average for Complication Rates Related to Central Line Insertions: A 5-Year Journey" poster was presented at the NCS Annual Meeting in Boca Raton, Florida. It was also supposed to be presented at the Society of Critical Care in Medicine Quality Improvement Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, but the conference was cancelled because of Hurricane Florence. The poster was presented online instead. This poster outlines 5 years of work to get to a 0% complication rate for central line placement in Duke's NeuroICU. Materials date from 2006 to 2018.

                    C. J. Lambertsen Papers, 1930-2004

                    Christian James (C. J.) Lambertsen (1917-2011) worked as a professor of pharmacology, director of the Institute for Environmental Medicine, and the founding director of the Environmental Biomedical Stress Data Center in 1985 at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine. He designed the Lambertsen Amphibious Respiratory Unit (LARU), which was the first widely used, closed-circuit Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (SCUBA) in the United States. Types of materials include correspondence, reports, photographs, audio material, slides, lab books, lab data, experimental measures and procedures, diagrams, graphs, articles, manuscript drafts, grant proposals, newspaper clippings, and notes.
