Contains three bound volumes of reprints of Williams' publications and his Duke graduate robe and hood. Materials date from 1947 to 1966.

Biographical / historical:

Roger Davis Williams was born May 26, 1924, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Edward E. Williams and Lucy (nee Davis) Williams. He received his BS and MD from Duke University in 1947 and his MS from Ohio State University in 1951. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean War as Executive Officer, 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Marine Division. Following his service he taught General Surgery at Ohio State University College of Medicine as Assistant Professor from 1955 to 1959, Associate Professor from 1959 to 1962, and Professor from 1962 to 1965. During his time at Ohio State, Williams guided arrangements for the first examination session of the American Board of Surgery. He was elected to the American Surgical Association in 1962.
In 1965, Williams became Professor and Chairman of Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston from 1962 to 1968. In 1968 Williams moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to practice general surgery and specialize in vascular surgery at Dickey, Fisher, Williams Associates. He retired from medicine in 1983.
Williams married Martha Jeanne Weideman in 1957. They had three children. He died on December 22, 2009.
