Scope and content:

Contains photographs taken of Stead, wife Evelyn Stead, the Stead's home, Stead's colleagues, and of his son William Stead. Also includes some photographs of Barton F. Haynes (former chair of the Department of Medicine), William Stead, and Stead together. Also includes photographs of Stead with staff and/or patients at Duke University, Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, and Emory University. Selected photographs were used by Haynes as editor of Stead's memoirs (1995). Photograph negatives were labeled by the donor to correspond with prints. All photographic prints are black and white unless otherwise noted. Materials range in date from 1929 to 1995.
