Biographical / historical:

The Division of Rheumatology and Immunology is part of the Department of Medicine at Duke University. The division was one of the first rheumatology units established in the United States. Some of the diseases treated and studied by members of the division include arthritis, pediatric rheumatology, scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjogren's syndrome, and vasculitis.
The first division chief, Grace Kerby, was also the first woman Chief Resident at Duke and the first woman in the department to be promoted to full professor. Other notable division chiefs include William Kelley, Ralph Snyderman, and Barton Haynes.

These include records of the officers of the University, as defined in the Bylaws, the deans of schools and colleges, and departments, institutes, and other offices as designated by the President. For a period of twenty-five years from the origin of the material, permission in writing from the director of the office of record and the Medical Center Archivist is required for use.
