Contains the North Carolina Licensed Practical Nurses Association's (NCLPNA) active and inactive membership records. Types of materials include membership dues; receipt books; membership rosters for affiliates, students, and general members; blank forms and letterhead; correspondence; applications filled out by individuals who did not complete membership dues payments; and membership totals for the years 1947-1968, 2000-2007, and 2009-2010. Materials are arranged chronologically according to the level of membership (affiliate, student, and general) for most records. Original order was maintained for a series of folders containing completed membership applications and copies of constituent state membership reports mailed from the NCLPNA to the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses, dated 1995 to 2000.
Also includes four boxes of membership cards dating from 1954 to around 1980 or later, maintained in their original order, with names of members, mailing addresses, status, date of admission into the organization, and their certificate numbers organized by last name. A fifth box of membership cards, dating from 1954 to around 1998 or later, contains a typed placeholder card placed at the front of the box stating, "Old Membership Expired" on the front, and "Membership Expiration 1987" on the back. Additional membership cards can be found in the Continuing Education Achievement Point Program series, subseries Workshops, under the heading, "Completion Tracking System." Miscellaneous membership cards can be found in the Administrative Records series, subseries Records, related to area chapters. Master copies of certain documents were printed using Gestetner-brand mimeograph stencils; these materials are housed separately where indicated due to strong odor of the ink. Materials range in date from 1947 to 2010, and some are undated.
