Scope and content:

These records document planning activities and building projects undertaken during Louis E. Swanson's tenure as chairman of the Medical Center Building Committee beginning in 1952; as assistant administrative director of medical center (with overall charge of the building program) from 1964 to 1967, and as the first director of the Medical Center Planning Office from 1967 to 1976. The records consists of correspondence, memoranda, committee minutes and reports, and planning documents in the form of long range planning summaries, multi-volume development proposals commissioned from prominent architectural and management consulting firms, photographs, building and site plans, diagrams, and blueprints generated between 1952 and 1976. Materials date from 1952 to 1977.

Contains Medical Center Administrative records. These include records of the officers of the University, as defined in the Bylaws, the deans of schools and colleges, and departments, institutes, and other offices as designated by the President. For a period of twenty-five years from the origin of the material, permission in writing from the director of the office of record and the Medical Center Archivist is required for use. After twenty-five years, records that have been processed may be consulted with the permission of the Medical Center Archivist. (Issued by the Office of the Chancellor, December 1, 1975).
