Scope and content:

This series documents the organization, operational functions, educational outreach, and patient services of the Duke Midwifery Service. Contains annual reports, awards, correspondence, grant applications, histories, meetings, organizational records, resident orientation materials, staff schedules, resources, and guidelines. Also included are the Midwifery birth logs for Certified Nurse Midwife assisted labor and deliveries at Duke University Medical Center and the Durham County Regional Hospital. The birth logs were used prior to the adoption of Obstetrics Trace View (OBTV) and Epic electronic record management systems. Some of these materials contain confidential patient information and are restricted under law by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
