COVID-19 changed and disrupted the lives of everyone around the world. At Duke, most students returned home, classes were held online, and all events were canceled. Many of Duke's staff worked from home, while others deemed essential continued to work on campus. The hospital prepared for an influx of people infected with COVID-19, and Duke researchers worked to find a way to fight the disease, from identification of treatments to the creation of better protective equipment. And we all lived with the fear of the physical impact of the virus, both for ourselves and our families.
